365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 219: Chased By The Tiger?

tiger

I made a commitment to myself to live FEARLESSLY and I do. I follow my heart, my intuition and make my decisions in alignment with who I am.

Living without fear does not mean that I put myself in dangerous situations in order to prove to myself or to others that I can overcome fear.

Living in the absence of fear means that I do not have a knot inside my stomach everyday, from fears known and unknown; unfortunately, most people do.

In the process of releasing fear I have acquired skills that allow me to recognize when fear starts to peak its head, so that I can look at it, understand where it’s coming from and release it.

Refusing to live in fear means that my decisions are not based in fear, but rather stem from trusting the processes of life.

Most people are consumed with fear and are devoured by it every single minute. The stress fear creates is tremendous and can cause serious illness.

Lissa Rankin, M.D. author of ‘’Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself ’’ says:

“The stress response is there to protect you in case a tiger chases you. But these days, we’re pretty safe from tigers, and yet our stress responses get triggered, on average, over 50 times per day. How? The amygdala in your lizard brains perceives negative thoughts, beliefs, and feelings, such as financial fears, relationship worries, work stress, loneliness, or pessimism, as threats equally scary as a tiger. Then BOOM. The scaredy-cat amygdala goes on red alert, and when this happens, our bodies can’t repair themselves.”

Do you have a tiger in your life?

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 186: Remember Our Friend, The Amygdala?

RUCSANDRA MITREA

The little scaredy-cat, as Dr. Lissa Rankin called the amygdala, is responsible for the effects of stress in our bodies.

So what are we supposed to do with the stress, you will ask.

Life IS stressful, you will say.

And I will respond: life is life. What stresses us out is our uneducated ways of dealing with stress. Uneducated, because the vast majority of us were not educated with respect to understanding life and what we perceive as stress; we were not taught how to quiet our overactive minds and ease the grip of fear in our hearts.

And here’s the truth: most of us continue to ignore the fact that there are ways to learn how to live stress free.

We’ve heard about meditation, but we dismiss it as something out there; something that people with flowers in their hair would do, or the monks in the Himalayas.

How about if Harvard (you know, the actual Harvard University) says that meditation helps?

People taking part in an 8-week program of mindfulness meditation showed results under the MRI that astonished even the most experienced neuroscientists at Harvard University:

“… reductions in stress also were correlated with decreased gray-matter density in the amygdala, which is known to play an important role in anxiety and stress.”

Our little friend the amygdala gets happier and healthier when we meditate.

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 185: Still Running Away From A Tiger?

RUCSANDRA MITREA

I am sure that this is not news to you: you’ve heard about the effects of stress on your health.

But here’s how Lissa Rankin M.D., author of ‘’Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself ’’ explains it in a few short and clear sentences:

“The stress response is there to protect you in case a tiger chases you. But these days, we’re pretty safe from tigers, and yet our stress responses get triggered, on average, over 50 times per day. How? The amygdala in your lizard brains perceives negative thoughts, beliefs, and feelings, such as financial fears, relationship worries, work stress, loneliness, or pessimism, as threats equally scary as a tiger. Then boom. The scaredy-cat amygdala goes on red alert, and when this happens, our bodies can’t repair themselves.”

Stress will not let your body heal. A flu will take you down for a few weeks, a broken bone will take too long to heal and if you need to start healing something bigger than a flu or a fracture, you will run out of resources unless you find efficient ways to deal with the stress in your life.

How do you deal with stress?

Let’s share ideas tomorrow.

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 177: The Ugly Truth

RUCSANDRA's PICTURE

Are you or someone you know in pain?

I am talking about physical pain but this applies to emotional pain as well.

This is the ugly truth of why you are still suffering: you continue to create your pain.

This is a simple and straightforward sequence of events:

You cannot heal your body if you believe you cannot heal →Your belief creates fear → Fear creates stress → Stress creates stress hormones → The healing process is hindered, stopped or even reversed → Pain becomes ‘’chronic’’ → Pain rules your life!

Getting out of pain is just as simple and straightforward and it must start with your thoughts.

Without changing your beliefs all the healing modalities you try and all the therapists you hire will have limited, partial success.

Rucsandra

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 125: What Are You Looking Forward To?

RUCSANDRA's PICTURE

Is there something that you are looking forward to? Is there anything scheduled later during this year that makes you feel excited? Something that you are planning or have been dreaming of for some time?

When you are excited and are genuinely looking forward to an event, such as a vacation to a wonderful place or a gathering with people you love and who love you, starting a business or changing your career, your system is flushed with hormones that improve your health and vitality. You are also sending your energy forward with excitement, positive expectation and optimism. As a result, life seems to flow with more ease and things get easier.

The opposite is also true, when you have nothing to anticipate and be excited about, or worse still, when you are dreading the upcoming events, the stress hormones released in your body diminish your well-being and can seriously damage your health; especially as your life situation stays the same over a long period of time. When you have nothing to look forward to, days seem to drag slowly one after the other, you wake up and don’t feel like starting your day, obstacles seem to be around every corner and life seems hard.

So my question for you today is: “What are you looking for in the next three months, six months, nine months? Anything?”.

If you have nothing to feel excited about, I want you to make a decision right now to start planning something next week. Decide what that is, choose a time frame and then start writing down the steps that will get you there.

The reason things stay the same and nothing exciting happens is because people do not take the time to envision and plan for a change.

So ask yourself what would bring you joy and excitement and then start moving in  that direction.

Do not say that you have no time or no money. The resources you will need will come to you as you send your desires into the Universe.

Send the desire out.

Make a plan.

Take the first step.

Then take the next.

Feel your excitement grow.

Start to notice the changes in your life.

Rucsandra
