DAY 328: Fitness – The Challenge Within

shutterstock_155628083“To exercise, to eat right. What is the Big Challenge?

Why do we gain weight? Why do we fall sick? […]

If one could control one’s craving towards chocolate cake (or any other craving for that matter)…

If one could remain enthusiastic towards exercise on a daily basis…

If one could follow a healthy diet without any cheating…

Would one need to shop around for finding an external agency to help us win the battle of weight loss?

It is here that the role of NLP comes in.

What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. ‘Neuro’ refers to the way we experience the world through our senses; ‘linguistic’ refers to the way we use language to make sense of the world, capture and conceptualize our experience and then communicate that experience to others; and ‘programming’ addresses the way we code (mentally represent) our experience and adopt various behavioral patterns of response. In short, NLP is a powerful mechanism involving the programming of our mind. It can impact you both professionally and personally.

It is applicable to all the areas of one’s life – be it weight loss, overall health, business management, psychology and all forms of personal development.

NLP can help you:

  • Remove the mental barriers blocking you from reaching your goals and set new higher expectations from yourself
  • Replace negative behaviors and habits with positive ones
  • Transform the way you go about your everyday tasks
  • Better understand your own motivations, needs and behaviors to have the greatest impact in your life

NLP helps you understand your current mind as each person has their own unique map of the world. It helps you unlock the subconscious beliefs, limitations and filters that you have created and stored in your mind.”

Chapter 22 in  the book Holistic Wellness In The NewAge is written by Tarini Khetarpal who is a Certified NLP Master Practitioner. She has learnt from the pioneer of NLP himself, Mr . John Grinder in London. She is also a Hay House certified and licensed ‘Heal Your Life’ Workshop leader who conducts programs based on Louise Hay’s philosophy.

DAY 327: Beyond Self-Sabotage

shutterstock_243915115“Most people can bring drastic changes in their quality of life by identifying the top five or ten of their limiting beliefs and changing them. Each belief has the power to create unhappiness or joy in your life.

And as every belief has sub-beliefs within it, if you have the belief that you are not worthy this will create more sub-beliefs on various aspects of self-loath.

On the contrary, a good, positive belief spawns many sub-beliefs to support the positive belief.

On a subconscious level, every belief has a secondary benefit. A secondary benefit means that while something causes pain or discomfort on one level, it may provide pleasure on another level. This is the reason why we protect our beliefs, even after becoming aware that they are not helping us. We create justifications for our beliefs.

For example, a client was unhappy with her job and yet she was fearful of changing her job. Her secondary belief was that even if she changed her job, the new job would be like the current one. This secondary belief provided her the ‘comfort’ to stay in her current job.

When patterns are broken, a new world emerges.”

Chapter 21 in  the book Holistic Wellness In The NewAge is written by Archna Mohan, who is a holistic life style coach.
