365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 29: The Inner Child – Part 5

Are you ready for this? Today is the day when you will approach your Inner Child and start creating an authentic, wonderful and deeply healing relationship with the part of you that has the power to transform your life.

Thank you for reading this blog and for being part of my gratitude journey. I am grateful that you are here and I want you to have a healthy, happy, laughing, joyous Inner Child.

At the beginning of this series,  I asked you to create you Inner Child Image and to allow it to sit with you in silence. Today let’s start again with a few words from Louise Hay:

“There is a parent inside each of us, as well as a child. And most of the time, the parent scolds the child—almost nonstop! If we listen to our inner dialogue, we can hear the scolding. We can hear the parent tell the child what it is doing wrong or how it is not good enough. We need to allow our parent to become more nurturing to our child.”

And a quote from the book “Codependence: The Dance of Wounded Souls” by Robert Burney

“We need to rescue and nurture and Love our inner children – and STOP them from controlling our lives. STOP them from driving the bus! Children are not supposed to drive, they are not supposed to be in control.

And they are not supposed to be abused and abandoned. We have been doing it backwards. We abandoned and abused our inner children. Locked them in a dark place within us. And at the same time let the children drive the bus – let the children’s wounds dictate our lives.”

Invite your Inner Child to join you right now. I will explain to you what to do and then I will say good bye, leaving you to talk to him or her. You will start talking to your Inner Child, but you must do it very gently, with love and compassion. Your Inner Child has been waiting for this moment for a very long time, locked up and abandoned. You must be patient and approach him/her with great care.

Do you remember how you would have liked to be embraced, loved, supported, talked to and played with as a child?

If you do, then use the right words and images and explain to your Inner Child that she/he is safe now and that even though she/he might have felt alone, abandoned and scared in the past, from now on you will always be there to protect and love her/him. Give your Inner Child everything you feel that you were not given.

Now, if you can’t remember how you felt as a child, engage your subconscious mind as if you were talking to a frightened child that you just met right now. Approach the child slowly, very slowly; speak softly and only touch him/her with the utmost care. Explain and hug and be gentle and patient.

This part of you is waiting to come home, to the loving and supporting home that you are capable of creating.

Continue this dialogue and interaction in the days to follow, until YOUR INNER CHILD feels truly safe, protected and loved. So then she or he can rest, sleep and recharge in safety.

And then, magic will happen: YOUR INNER CHILD, which is your subconscious mind will be on your side and will fuel your efforts to create a life beyond your wildest dreams.

This powerful inner energy will work for you even when you sleep. Your strong, clear and playful Inner Child will not hide anymore, will not doubt, will not fear or avoid life.

YOU will embrace and flow with the stream of life without struggle and with great joy.

Gently, patiently, carefully and lovingly give your Inner Child all the love, the caresses, the understanding and the support she or he was denied. Restore his/her faith in life.

Start living now as YOURSELF, FULLY, FEARLESSLY with your INNER CHILD returned back home, to YOU.

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 28: The Inner Child – Part 4

The Inner Child series continues: from the understanding of the two parts of the mind, you have two choices: to CONSCIOUSLY create your life or to SUBCONSCIOUSLY react to it.

In the second post about the Inner Child I mentioned that according to the Ho’oponopono tradition the subconscious mind is considered to be the inner Child; it is important to have the Inner Child work for you, with you and not against you, because that is the more powerful part of the mind and you want it on board with your desires and aspirations.

Your adult self is ready to take charge and CONSCIOUSLY create your DESIRED life. Your SUBCONSCIOUS SELF might be stuck at the age your limiting beliefs were created. Your adult aspect is pulling in one direction and your Inner Child might be suspended and frozen in fear, loneliness or deep hurt.

Old limiting beliefs that are holding you back and prevent you from living your desired life and fulfilling your dreams can be released and cleared by working with your Inner Child.

This concept is very well known and many authors and speakers have written and talked about it. Here’s a great book “Reconciliation: Healing the Inner Child” by  Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. Thich Nhat Hanh is a global spiritual leader, poet and peace activist, revered throughout the world for his powerful teachings and bestselling writings on mindfulness and peace.

Remember the quote from Louise Hay:

“IT DOESN’T MATTER how old you are, there is a little child within who needs love and acceptance. If you’re a woman, no matter how self-reliant you are, you have a little girl who’s very tender and needs help. If you’re a man, no matter how macho you are, you still have a little boy inside who craves warmth and affection.

 As children, when something went wrong, we tended to believe that there was something wrong with us. Children develop the idea that if they could only do it right, then parents and caregivers would love them, and they wouldn’t punish them. In time, the child believes, There is something wrong with me. I’m not good enough. As we grow older, we carry these false beliefs with us. We learn to reject ourselves.”

I am so grateful that I have stopped rejecting myself, my ideas and my own view of the world. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to be me, fully me and to continue to become more authentic every day. What I desire for you is to heal your Inner Child and start living your most authentic life!

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 27: The Inner Child – Part 3

This is building up! Today I want to share with you what I know about the conscious and subconscious minds. I am really excited about this because I know that once you find out how big a part the subconscious mind has to play in your life, you will understand why you must heal your Inner Child.

Here we go, buckle up!

I want you to imagine an iceberg: a small portion is found above the water while the massive rest is hidden below the water surface. This image will give you the scale of how the conscious mind (above the water) and the subconscious mind (below the water surface) relate to each other and the power they have in shaping your inner life.

The CONSCIOUS MIND  represents about %15 of the total mind’s capacity and can only process a limited amount of information at a time and therefore it can only hold one single thought at a time. This is your thinking mind; it knows how to think in abstract terms, set goals, judge results and compare information. This part of your mind is what you are using right now to focus on reading this post. The conscious mind does not store memories, it is only concerned with what is happening right now, with planning and dealing with the ‘here and now’ situations.

The SUBCONSCIOUS MIND represents 85% of your brain’s capacity. Think about it as being a massive computer system that controls and monitors body operations, such as heart beat, breathing, metabolism, hormone productions and so on; this means that it can deal with thousands of events at a time. These are all things beyond your conscious thinking capacity.

This powerful computer is also in charge of long-term memories and past experiences, attitudes, values and beliefs as well as all the information regarding how you feel. The subconscious mind thinks literally, therefore it has no reasoning power and cannot reject anything that it is told. Read that last sentence again:

Emotions are controlled by the subconscious mind. When you feel afraid or anxious you do not consciously want to experience such a feeling. Trying to think yourself out of it consciously is not very effective.

Most of the subconscious programming was done when you were very young, before you reached the age of seven, before the filter between the subconscious mind and the conscious mind developed in  your psyche, before you had ample reasoning and judging power. As an adult you posses such a filter and you do not believe everything you are told. Before this barrier was developed in your mind, you took in without judgment or real understanding everything you experienced, got exposed to and was told with respect to yourself, other people and life in general.

When you were a child you created a set of beliefs and values with the understanding you had at the time. The powerful, subconscious part of your mind was programmed by what you heard, saw and experienced when you were too young to understand the meaning of the things you were exposed to. You were too young to form any real opinions of your own so you took in as truth whatever you were presented with. Your young mind interpreted them as it could and the opinions and beliefs of those around you reinforced what you came up with. So, all the things you accepted as truth at that early age, remained embedded in your subconscious mind. Your responses, reactions and decision-making as an adult are affected and influenced by them, unless you heal the wounds of the past.

Wow! This is a lot and there is more in store for you tomorrow. This will allow you to connect with your Inner Child in a powerful way so I am grateful that I get to share it with you. Thank you.

 

 

 

 

 

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 26: The Inner Child – Part 2

I am thrilled that I get to share with you all this information about the Inner Child. When I understood this concept, I was able to start a powerful process of transformation in my own life. I am grateful that I did and I want the same for you!

As I sat down to write this post, I realized that there will be more than two parts to the Inner Child topic. So more will come tomorrow.

In yesterday’s post I asked you to create your Inner Child image and to allow it to sit with you in silence. According to the tradition of Ho’oponopono, about which I wrote on Day 5, the Inner Child is actually the subconscious mind and it must be approached really gently and patiently.

I’ll write about the conscious and subconscious minds tomorrow. Right now, I want to bring to your attention the fact that nowadays science is backing-up the connection between what we feel and what we create in our lives on all levels: physical, emotional, spiritual, mental and energetic. This is no mystery anymore; it is not considered make-belief anymore in the medical and scientific circles. It is REALITY. It is the reality of the intricate, powerful and self-healing mechanism that the human being is.

Reading books by Dr. Bruce Lipton, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Andrew Weil or Gregg Braden will offer you the scientific proof regarding the fact that we create our lives through how we feel and what we think. Our emotions are a sounding board, a barometer for how aligned we are with our inner essence. Our true Essence is fearless, powerful, expanded, generous and magnificent. When we feel small, afraid and powerless it is because part of our connection with the true essence of who we are has been turned off. More so today, as our world is led by fear and shaken by major events, we may be feeling afraid, confused or alone. And because of this very phenomenon, we create more of what we are afraid of.

Louise Hay started saying almost 40 years ago:

“Every thought we think, and every word we speak, is creating our future. Our thoughts go out into the universe.”

The book “All is Well: Heal Your Body with Medicine, Affirmations and Intuition” written by Louise Hay and Dr. Mona Lisa Schulz is based on Louise Hay’s decades of work. Dr. Schulz explains how science today is able to back-up what Louise Hay said all along. Here’s a quote from the book:

“Research has shown that fear, anger, sadness, love, and joy have specific effects on the body. We know that anger makes muscles clamp down and blood vessels constrict, leading to hypertension and resistance to blood flow. Cardiac medicine tells us that joy and love tend to have opposite effect.

……

Specific thought patterns affect our bodies in predictable ways, releasing certain chemicals in response to each emotion. When fear is your dominant mood over a long period of time, the constant release of stress hormones, specifically cortisol, triggers a domino effect of chemicals that lead to heart disease, weight gain, and depression.

As with fear, other emotions and thoughts follow a typical pattern as they are projected onto the body in the form of illness. In my work, I have also found that while emotions travel everywhere in the body, they affect organs differently depending on what is happening in your life. “

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 18: Memory Banks Part 1 – The Rainbow

One summer afternoon when I was about 4 or 5 years old and deep into my mid-day nap, my father lifted me up from the bed and carried me into the back yard, still half asleep, so that he could show me a rainbow. My FIRST rainbow. I thought is was made by a fairy or a wizard, or that my father turned into a magician; it was so wonderful and mesmerizing. I love the memory of my father and me as a little girl perched on his arm, looking at the rainbow together.

This is a light, happy, sweet memory. There are many more pleasant, uplifting events and things, places and people in my memory banks. I am sure that you have many of them as well. But how about the rest of the memories, you might ask. The ones that are not so nice to remember, the ones that create pain and sorrow, shame or grief. You have some of those too. All of us do. I had such memories as well, but I transformed them in neutral, uncharged events. I am not defined by them anymore. I have evolved past most of them and if something comes up from my memoty banks I work with it until it is deflated and neutralized.

Today I am grateful for that day, about 16 years ago, when I decided to free myself from past events and memories. I will share more about this tomorrow.

Our memory banks are important, because they define our lives, unless we take charge and heal our wounds; unless we change how we perceive them, feel them and think about them.

Here’s a concept that I teach in all my coaching programs, the very same concept that ingnited in me the desire to transform my memory banks:

“EMOTIONAL CLEANLINESS is the capacity to see, hear and feel events, circumstances and other people’s words and actions, and to respond to all these stimuli from a vantage point of inner power, unhindered, unconditioned and unlimited by the layers of past and present un-released emotional debris.” (this is my own definition)

How would your life be if you were emotionally cleansed?
