DAY 295: Fear Is The Mind-Killer

zen“I must not fear.

Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.”

About 20 years ago I came across the “Litany against Fear” in the novel Dune by Frank Herbert. I used it many times, found it powerful and felt its clearing and healing effects.

This quote means a lot to me and it helped me release the fear of fear itself.

In the greater awareness of this powerful and calm energy, I was able face my fear and see what fear really is: non-reality, a fabrication of the mind, fed by our society, media and our beliefs.

Rucsandra

DAY 250: You Are Not Your Fears

Tulips

You are not your fears. You have the power to heal. Health is your birthright.

Are you ready to clear away all your health/body related fears?

Bring out the list you created with all the things and situations you are afraid of.

Here’s something you can repeat to yourself to start this process.

“I am not my fears. It is safe for me to live without guarding and defending myself all the time. When I feel afraid, I open my heart and let the love dissolve the fear.” – Louise Hay

You can also search the Internet and find a quote that resonates with you.

Or, better yet: WRITE YOUR OWN LITANY AGAINST FEAR.

Once you have the words that work for you, repeat them over and over so that you release the fear of facing your fears.

Choose one of the fears on your list and sit with it. Feel it fully. Allow it to become as big, as strong, as frightening as it is.

Sit there. Feel it. Look at it. Allow it. Feel it FULLY. Do not pull back, do not retreat, just sit and feel it, in its full intensity.

Repeat your litany against fear over and over if you need to, but do not move. DO NOT MOVE. Breathe deeply and sit in that fear. You are strong, calm and NOTHING can make you move.

The calmer you remain, the weaker the grip your fear will have on you. And after a while, it will dissolve. Once the fear is gone, only YOU will remain.

It is this simple and YOU DO have the strength to let go of ALL YOUR FEARS.

Go through your entire list of fears. It might take you a few days, or a few weeks, but you will get it done. And once this task is complete, you will experience a sense of calm and strength inside yourself that you never knew resided there.

From this calm  and strong place inside yourself, healing can begin.

You CAN heal, but first you must let go of your fears.

Rucsandra

DAY 249: Letting Go Of Fear Feeling Like Climbing A Vertical Wall?

letting go of fear

Your fears might feel real to you, but they are not. Your fears do not exist, except in your mind.

“Fears are nothing more than a state of mind.” – Napoleon Hill

A state of mind can be changed. Sometimes it might be easy to do so and sometimes it might requite your time and determination. But you CAN change your state of mind and release the grips of fear.

Years back I came across a few lines in a science fiction book that helped me let go of my fears. I wrote about the “Litany Against Fear” from the novel Dune by Frank Herbert in this blog before.

Here it is:

“I must not fear.

Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.”

You see, once you are willing to sit down with your fear and allow yourself to feel it fully, once you stop pushing it away and hiding from it, it starts to lose its power over you. As you make the decision to open yourself up to your feelings, your fear will pass through you and over you. And once it’s gone, only you will remain.

Take a look at the list of fears you made two days ago. Choose one fear that you can deal with right now. Sit down with it. Look at it. Feel it. Openly and fully. And feel it pass over you and through you until you become free of it.

You can do it!

Rucsandra

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 48: Beyond Fear Part 15 – Are You Fearless Now?

RUCSANDRA's PICTURE

I am really grateful for everything I have learned about my own fears and for being able to share it all with you. Thank you for coming with me on this journey to let go of fear and live joyously, freely, fearlessly. It will take you a few weeks to go through your list and let your fears go one by one, but you will get it done and you will feel FREE. The fear series has reached its end. Today is day 15 of the “Beyond Fear” posts and so, I will close with a few powerful quotes:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness,  that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.” – Les Brown

“You can conquer almost any fear if you will only make up your mind to do so. For remember, fear doesn’t exist anywhere except in the mind.” – Dale Carnegie

“To fear is one thing.  To let fear grab you by the tail and swing you around is another.” – Katherine Paterson

“FEAR IS BECOMING RAMPANT on the planet. We can see it every day in the news. Fear is a lack of trust in ourselves, and because of this, we don’t trust Life. We don’t trust that we’re being taken care of on a higher level, so we feel we must control everything from the physical level. Obviously, we’re going to feel fear because we can’t control everything in our lives. Trust is what we learn when we want to overcome our fears. It’s called “taking a leap of faith” and trusting in the Power within that’s connected to Universal Intelligence. Remember, the Power that supplies our breath is the same Power that created the Universe.” – Louise Hay

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 47: Beyond Fear Part 14 – Out-Sitting Your Fears

RUCSANDRA's PICTURE

I can’t wait to show you how simple it is to dismantle your fears. It is intense, you will feel your fears intensely, but it is not hard and it does not last a long time. What might feel like hours to you is in fact mere minutes.

What I am teaching you today will have powerful effects in all the aspects of your life. You will have the tools to deal with your fears and CHOOSE TO MOVE PAST THEM and into the life YOU DESIRE.

Are you ready to live FEARLESSLY?

Let’s start! Let’s start! Life is meant to be lived with joy, with courage and with passion.

So here is my invitation to you right now. Set some time aside, when you will not be disturbed. Sit in your favorite chair or armchair, get comfortable and close your eyes. Sit quietly and breathe for a few minutes. If you feel fear and apprehension coming up, read the Litany Against Fear as many times as you need until you feel its calming, soothing power.

Or, repeat the Ho’oponopono words over and over until you feel calmer:

I love you

I’m sorry

Please forgive me

Thank you

If that does not resonate with you, use Louise Hay’s words:

“I am not my fears. It is safe for me to live without guarding and defending myself all the time. When I feel afraid, I open my heart and let the love dissolve the fear.”

You can also search the Internet and find a quote that resonates with you.

Or, better yet: WRITE YOUR OWN LITANY AGAINST FEAR.

Once you have the words that work for you, use them so that you release the fear of facing your fears.

Then bring out the list you created with all the things and situations you are afraid of.

Once the fear is gone, only YOU, capital letters YOU will remain.

This is a powerful cleansing process. It will leave you feeling more YOURSELF than ever before.

Isn’t this exhilarating? Isn’t it empowering to know that YOU can achieve all this in a few days or a few weeks?

I am very excited for you because I know how powerful and clear you will feel very, very soon!

And from then on, as Dr. Wayne Dyer says:

“Hit the delete button every time fear appears.”

Love,

Rucsandra

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 46: Beyond Fear Part 13 – Facing Your Fears

RUCSANDRA's PICTURE

OK. How many fears have you put on paper so far? How long is your list? It does not matter. What matters is that you are starting to acknowledge that all these fears exist within you. Awareness is the first step and it is the most important one because, unless you understand what you are really dealing with you cannot do anything to free yourself from it.

You were taught to keep your fears hidden, to never speak about them. Sometimes the fears are so deeply buried, that you do not even know that they are there; and that is dangerous, because you suffer without knowing why, you cannot connect with who you truly are, you react rather than act and you can even get sick.

So what do you do now? How DO YOU deal with YOUR FEARS?

Remember the “Litany against Fear” in the novel Dune by Frank Herbert?

“I must not fear.

Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.”

Isn’t that powerful? There are no corners to cut and there is no running in circles: THE ONLY WAY TO DEAL WITH FEAR IS TO FACE IT DIRECTLY.

How do you feel now that you just read that?

THE ONLY WAY TO DEAL WITH FEAR IS TO FACE IT DIRECTLY.

Are you afraid of how this will feel? We are talking after all about facing your fears and looking them straight in the eye.

If you haven’t done that before, then you might feel scared right now. You are fearing your fears, so to speak.

But it is a lot lighter and easier than you think!

This is GREAT moment. This will change everything!.

Follow me for the next couple of posts and let me show you how to face your fears, one by one.

I am talking about feeling your fear snapping at your heels and instead of running away from it, choosing to turn around and face it straight in the face.

You can do it. I know you can; and I will show you how. Until tomorrow, copy and paste the Litany Against Fear, print it out and read it to yourself over and over and over.

Love,

Rucsandra

365 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – DAY 35: Beyond Fear Part 3 – Collective Fear

RUCSANDRA's PICTURE

I am very grateful to have known and understood fear. For the last couple of years I have been studying it; actually I became fascinated by it, because of the grip it had on me personally. I learned a lot about it, defined it and categorized it and now am ready to share it all with you. This is important; too important not to share.

Healing cannot occur in the presence of fear. The healing process requires the full release of fear. Most people are afraid to look within because fear is the only field that they have been truly trained in, repeatedly and consistently, every single day throughout their lives.

Let’s start dismantling the concept of fear together. Understanding that fear defines our limitations will give us the tools to unleash the force of inner healing.

Intrinsic part of our lives, fears can be categorized as follows:

  1. Sociological
  2. Perceptual
  3. Temporal
  4. Universal

I will explain these categories, one by one. Hold on to your seat, this is big! Let’s start with the the first category, which can be divided farther.

  1. Sociological fear can be:
  • Societal or collective
  • Familial
  • Individual

Today let’s look at the:

  • Societal or collective fear

We are the children of our society and we have been forged and conditioned, taught and chiseled by our forefathers’ beliefs, rules, accomplishments and fears. This would be all good news if our society was based on love, compassion, understanding and respect. Unfortunately it is not. With maybe a few isolated and small cultures around the globe, we live in a world shaped and defined by fear.

Society has been very effective in teaching us to live in fear: fear of war, of cancer, of financial crisis and depression, fear of God, of heart disease, of terrorism, fear of going to hell, of not having the right job, fear of other people, of other nations and other customs, fear of being too fat to be considered beautiful or too weak to become successful, of illnesses and viruses and epidemics.

We live our lives in various gradients of fear without even being aware of this fact. We are imbued with fear in all its colors, flavors and intensities.

Fear is everywhere. People take their first dose of daily fear with their morning coffee, while watching the news, reading the newspaper or listening to the car radio on their way to work. They start to feel the fists of fear in their guts right after brushing their teeth in the morning.

The truth is that fear sells. It is also true that for every sad and disconcerting thing that we hear about in the news, there is a beautiful, uplifting and empowering thing that is happening somewhere in the world in the exact same time. Unfortunately, that would not sell, so the accent is put on what sells: tragedy, pain, and fear. A continuous stream of fear-creating news is bombarding us all day long.

Scientists study the effects of fear on individuals and society. Dr. Deepak Chopra and Jim Clifton in their article entitled “The Fear Factor: How Scared Are People?” say:

“Over the past decade the word “fear” has become all too familiar. After 9/11, critics of the war on terror called it fear-mongering. After the financial crash of 2008, living in a climate of fear became the lot of millions of people who lost their jobs, retirement accounts, and homes.

In the face of such violence, the prevalence of fear can have a profound effect on the health, well-being, and economic development: if a society is in a constant state of fear, it won’t produce anything good.”

Fear is a phenomenon with a strong grasp on our society, and if we are in a constant state of fear, we cannot produce the antidote.

I will explain all the categories of fear in my future posts. Stay tuned!
